THE CULTURE CLUB

What is The Culture Club?

The Culture Club is a social group for people who enjoy attending cultural events.

Organised by a collective of local tutors and practitioners, including myself, The Culture Club is free to join, and arranges regular social activities, gatherings and outings around the North of England, all with a cultural slant.

Joining The Culture Club is a great way to experience culture, learn new things, meet like-minded people, and gain new friends.  Many of The Culture Club's activities are free to attend, and most don't require prior booking.  For most activities, you can just turn up on the day, and you're usually more than welcome to bring non-members with you, e.g. friends or family members.

What kind of things does The Culture Club do?

The Culture Club is all about promoting cultural activities and forging connections between people who are interested in culture.  Areas of interest include:
  • art and art appreciation
  • creative writing, literature, theatre and film
  • music
  • food and drink
  • foreign languages and culture
  • history
Many of its activities involve meeting up in or visiting interesting and inspirational locations.  Such activities include:
  • visits to museums, art galleries, and other places of interest
  • walks and excursions
  • talks, seminars and demonstrations on cultural topics
  • day trips and outings to specific locations
Perhaps the most important part of The Culture Club, though, is its social aspect. Every activity gives you a chance to chat with fellow members, share ideas and thoughts, and usually have something to eat or drink.  That's why The Culture Club is such a great way of meeting like-minded people and making new friends.

Who's involved in organising The Culture Club?

The Culture Club is operated by a collective of tutors and practitioners based in the North of England.  In addition to myself, here are some of the other members of The Culture Club collective:
  • Jason Skill:  Jason is an artist who lives and works in Newcastle and the North East of England. He is a specialist watercolour tutor, teaching adult education classes and performing demonstrations for art galleries and art clubs.  Find out more about Jason on his website.
  • Antonella Rea:  Antonella is an experienced teacher of Italian and French, and organises activities and experiences based around aspects of Italian and French culture.  Find out more about Antonella on her website.
